And the winner is……………..
British Sign Awards
The British Sign Awards are organised and run by the British Sign and Graphics Association, the only trade organisation dedicated to serving and protecting the interests of UK-based sign makers.
Having recognised that there was a demand for an awards scheme from within the industry, the BSGA Council approved the creation of a new scheme which would spotlight the outstanding work of British sign makers and would, at the same time, have real meaning and value for all those who participate. Host for the 2016 Awards was broadcaster Bill Turnbull, best known as the main presenter of BBC’s Breakfast for the past 15 years.
Following a record high standard of entries whittled down to a shortlist of 7, it was too close to call for the judges and as a result, 2 entrants were named as joint winners, one of which was Kirsty Donald of OPG Ltd. Kirsty was praised by the judges for being one of the first candidates to attain a formal Modern Apprenticeship in Sign Making. This was achieved through and with the backing of EKGTA who provided invaluable support throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
